Dr Gareth Davies speaks about London's Air Ambulance Charity

In our 30-year history, our charity has come a long way – from the threat of closure to the Pride of Britain.

Our service was set up in 1989, when clinicians in London recognised that people were dying unnecessarily on London’s roads. They knew that early intervention and cutting-edge on scene care could make all the difference to patients. 30 years on, the care we can provide has evolved to become a pioneering branch of medicine, treating an average of five people every day.

Marking our 30-year anniversary, Medical Director Dr Gareth Davies tells our story. Gareth discusses how far we have come, how we have kept flying and how we have provided care for London even on some of the city’s darkest days.
